1. ... CANDEREL's main sweetening ingredient is digested by the body just like other everyday foods.
The ingredients in Canderel are metabolised by the body just like other foods.
Canderel's main sweetening ingredient is aspartame*
The aspartame in Canderel is broken down into its constituent amino acids, aspartic acid and phenylalanine, and a small amount of methanol.
These two amino acids are found in a very wide range of other foods containing protein such as meat, fish, eggs and dairy products. Methanol is a natural component of many foods and beverages, including many fruits and vegetables. Aspartame therefore brings nothing new to the diet.
Methanol is a normal breakdown product of many fruits and vegetables in a healthy diet. The amount of methanol produced by a drink sweetened with Canderel is far less than in many foods. For example, tomato juice has over 10 times as much methanol as a Canderel sweetened drink. Methanol, in these quantities, is metabolised by the body normally.
2. ... you can manage your weight better with CANDEREL.
Replacing sugar with a low-calorie sweetener can prove extremely useful in helping to maintain a healthy weight. Sweeteners contain very few calories and because they are very sweet, only a tiny amount provides the same sweetness as sugar.
Low-calorie sweeteners, such as those in Canderel, are available in tablet and granulated forms, making them a highly versatile alternative to sugar. They can be used in cooking, sprinkled on cereals, desserts and fruit, as well as in hot drinks. Canderel has less than a third of a calorie per tablet, and less than two calories per teaspoon, whereas a teaspoon of sugar contains 20 calories.
3. ... CANDEREL can be used for cooking and baking.
Canderel uses a unique blend of ingredients that taste delicious and is suitable for cooking even at prolonged temperatures over 200ºC. Granular Canderel can be used spoon for spoon in place of sugar in many of your favourite dishes (remember if weighing out, divide the sugar quantity by 10). Use it for cakes, cookies, muffins, pies and pastries, brownies and cheesecake. It can also be used in frostings, icing, glazes, bakery fillings and toppings. But don't forget savoury dishes as well that sometimes need a little sweetness e.g. dipping sauces, sweet and sour & tomato pasta sauce. Like all high intensity sweeteners, Canderel doesn't replace all functions of sugar's bulk. Recipes specifically designed with Canderel are highly recommended and can be found under the recipe section of this website.
4. ... CANDEREL is suitable for diabetics.
Yes. Canderel does not affect glucose or insulin levels. Thanks to Canderel, people with diabetes can choose from a wider variety of foods and drinks, making it easier to follow nutritional recommendations. Canderel allows diabetics the freedom to enjoy a healthy and delicious alternative to sugar without affecting blood glucose levels.
5. ... CANDEREL is suitable for children.
The main sweetening ingredient in Canderel, aspartame*, is digested into components that are found naturally and in much greater quantities in a child's daily diet. The other sweetening ingredient, acesulfame-K, is not even metabolized.
Canderel is suitable and safe for children and infants, however, we do not particularly recommend Canderel for infants or very young children (up to the age of three years old). This does not mean that they should never consume foods or drinks made with Canderel; it simply means that growing children need carbohydrates, including sugar, for healthy growth and development.
For children with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, Canderel can be helpful. It allows these children to enjoy sweet things and still maintain their prescribed diet.
6. ... pregnant women can use CANDEREL.
Canderel is compatible for use in pregnant women's diets. We also remind pregnant women to follow dietary recommendations given by their doctor.
7. ... nursing mothers can use CANDEREL.
Several studies have demonstrated that Canderel's main sweetening ingredient (aspartame*) changes the composition of a mother's milk to a lesser degree than a meal containing normal protein levels.
We can therefore confirm that women can use Canderel without affecting the normal feeding of their baby.
8. ... CANDEREL is Kosher, GMO-free, and suitable for vegetarians and people with gluten intolerance.
Canderel granular and tablets are certified Kosher, do not contain and are not manufactured from any genetically-modified organism, and do not contain any gluten.
Canderel granular does not contain any potentially allergenic ingredient, other than lactose (milk sugar) used as bulking agent. Canderel tablets do not contain any other potentially allergenic ingredient.
* Aspartame is a source of phenyalanine, and is therefore not suitable for phenylketonurics.
