Chocolate and Sultana Brownies

Chocolate brownies

It's only a little bit naughty. Great to share with others or maybe just for you!

Serves: 12

What

3 egg whites
300g low fat cream cheese
25g granular Canderel
40g cocoa powder, sifted
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp full fat milk
75g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
75g sultanas
50g dark chocolate, roughly broken into small pieces

Optional – serve with Vanilla Cream
250g low fat cream cheese
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp granular Canderel


 

How

Preheat the oven to 180C/gas 4. Line a 15cm (6in) square baking tin with baking parchment (not greaseproof paper).
Whisk your egg whites in a large bowl until they form soft peaks.


In another large bowl, combine the cream cheese with the granular Canderel. Add the cocoa powder, vanilla extract and milk. Beat well

until the mixture is smooth. Fold in the whisked egg whites until evenly incorporated.


Sift the flour and baking powder together over the mixture and fold in lightly, together with the sultanas and chocolate pieces.


Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 20-25 minutes until springy to the touch.


Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly in the tin. Cut into squares and serve warm.

Optional - Vanilla Cream


Beat together the cream cheese with the vanilla essence and granular Canderel. Spoon into a dish and serve with the brownies.
